10 Easy Everyday Tips for Keeping a Healthy Mental State



These 10 steps can help you keep your mental balance even in stressed situations:

1. Be Self-compassionate

Being self-compassionate means giving priority to self and taking care of one’s own needs and liking. In our busy life we forget to get time for ourselves. Simple things like learning your favorite dance or just taking out time to roam around your favorite park alone. Each day make it mandatory to get out at least an hour from your daily routine to give time to yourself.



2. Keep your body healthy

A healthy mind dwells in a healthy body, for this you need to keep your body fit. Every day you can make it a habit of at least 30 mins of exercise or jogging. You are not required to hit the gym, you can just go for a walk or jog or even do some free hand stretching each day. This will keep you healthy and feeling good about your body.

3. Start your day with positive words

Start each day with a little prayer or just few self-motivating words like: “may today be a great day where I can learn something new and can help anyone in need”. Or you can even pray to god for giving you strength and wisdom to face every situation that arises. These simple words can work wonders and give you a sense of positivity to start off your day.

4. Make sure you have some good people around you

Having good people around you helps you to be positive and kick out negativity from life. Talk with them, share your feelings with them and let them motivate you. Good people motivate you to do good and help you be strong even in adversities.

5. Have a pet

After coming back from your daily stressful workload a simple cuddle with your dog can help you get rid of your stress. Studies suggest that pets have a very positive impact on our lives and they can be a great source of stress buster. If your schedule allows you, then it’s advisable to have a pet.

6. Drink plenty of water

This is not taken seriously when we talk about mind wellness, but it is indeed an important little step you can inculcate in your daily habit. Drinking more water relaxes your body and does not allow toxic elements to grow inside the body. Even in stress situations if you drink water it calms your mind and can relieve you from stress.

7. Get enough sleep

Sleep is very important to relax your mind and give you energy to handle stress. You must sleep between 6-7 hours daily for the mind and body to heal and get energy back into your system. Oversleeping can be dangerous  and can be a sign of depression so as less sleep.

8. Take small breaks within your working schedule

Most of us forget that having a monotonous routine can cause stress and make us irritated of our daily work. It is advisable to take at least a 5 mins breaks every 1 or 2 hrs of work to maintain the concentration and avoid getting stressed. You can simply wash your eyes, stretch your arms, have a cup of coffee or have fun chat with your colleagues.

9. Learn to be calm in worst of situation

Remember if a situation arises you have to handle it, losing your calm will only make the matter worse. It’s better to give a little time thinking about the various ways you can handle a situation rather taking any abrupt decision. It may be hard to keep calm in a situation, what you can do is take a break, recollect your thoughts then put your effort in to it again.

10. Seek consultation

If you feel stress is taking a toll on you and you cannot control it with all the above techniques, it is advisable to seek a professional help. Most offices today have a psychologist or you can even look for one near you to visit on weekends. After few sittings itself you will notice a change in your outlook and having a motivation to take on any challenge in life positively.

These were very simple techniques that you can inculcate in your daily routine to maintain a healthy balance of your mind. The 10th technique is the last resort only after trying the other 9 techniques for quite a sometime, say a month.
